I’m not sure why it plays out like this but the new year seems to always spell shuffling and painting. The studio is quiet and dark and cold and gives me a little cocoon to reset and move all my things around while I gear up to actually making the work.

My scruffling was joyously interrupted by Sophie Davidson who came for lunch to begin our monthly studio lunches project. I cooked her a beef and onion stew to a recipe by Will, which he described as a French Onion Soup with tender beef in, and served it with a green, herby salad which didn’t really work but here’s one by Alison Roman that always works.
I particularly love this photo Sophie took which seems to move like a painting itself. We’re really excited to see where this project goes and will reveal more during the year!
Later in the month I was delighted to see my Peeled Potato painting featured in World of Interiors..

I adore the solid sculptural feel of a peeled potato as well as the grounding feeling of sitting at a table and prepping potatoes as the very first thing on the lunch list. This painting hopes to celebrate that moment and it is currently available through Partnership Editions HERE
